Now identifying top prospects for consideration to future MLB events

MoCo RBI -- a Major League Baseball RBI program affiliate for Montgomery County, Md. -- is currently identifying MLB Draft hopefuls, college baseball commits, and top high school baseball prospects living in the Greater Baltimore-Washington metropolitan region. Through the MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline, we are helping Major League Baseball find local players that have next level ability.

More than 200 alumni from Major League Baseball youth programs have been selected in the MLB Draft, including Manny Machado and Hunter Greene -- the second overall pick in 2017.

Elite-level 18U players that dream of being selected in a future MLB Draft are encouraged to join the MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline, our FREE platform that provides scholar-athletes with unique opportunities to showcase their talent directly for Major League Baseball. The MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline places talented local ballplayers in an optimum position to be seen by the highest levels of eyes. Additionally, the MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline provides pro scouts and colleges with valuable information on registered players.

By registering with the MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline, elite amateur baseball players can increase their chances of being drafted, college commits are able to ensure that their collegiate career is closely monitored by the Major League Baseball scouting apparatus, and uncommitted high school stars are able to take a giant step in their pursuit of a college baseball scholarship.

Amateur baseball players that wish to be considered for future prospect showcase events hosted by Major League Baseball should also register with the MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline. Candidates must be Class of 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025.

Not a rec league

MoCo RBI is neither a rec league nor travel ball.

We are a certified MLB affiliated program that specializes in identifying and developing the DMV's best high school baseball prospects.

Two-thirds of MoCo RBI prospects have been selected to an All-American, All-Region, All-Metro, All-City, All-County, or All-District team. Moreover, several MoCo RBI prospects are currently ranked among the best amateur players nationally as well as in the Mid-Atlantic.

In addition, travel baseball players currently comprise 93 percent of prospects registered in the MoCo RBI pipeline.

Connect with MoCo RBI

The MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline is designed to connect the MLB youth baseball scouting apparatus with elite amateur prospects from Montgomery County and the surrounding Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

To accomplish this objective, the MoCo RBI Scouting Department identifies top amateur baseball prospects within the DMV region, compiles data on each, then provides scouting reports, intelligence, and other information on those players to MLB teams, pro scouts, and college recruiters.

Our strategic mission is to increase the number of local players that are represented in Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, the College World Series, and top showcases such as the Area Code Baseball Games and Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) League (see video below).

Prospect ID is key

Prospect ID has a profound influence on whether a player ultimately does or does not get drafted.

Many players fly under the radar in high school and college, but are still drafted nonetheless due to the role of prospect ID.

For prospects that hope to someday be selected in the MLB Draft, being identified by the MLB baseball development apparatus is a pivotal first-step toward accomplishing this goal.

Players that register with the MoCo RBI Top Prospects Pipeline place themselves in an ideal position to be identified by MLB scouts.

Committing to play college baseball is NOT the same as being identified.

Playing for a top high school program or nationally renowned travel team is NOT the same as being identified.

Performing in front of scouts at prestigious travel ball tournaments is NOT the same as being identified.

Posting great stats to go along with awards and accolades is NOT the same as being identified.

What happens when you register

Once MoCo RBI is cleared to resume baseball activities, our scouting department will contact prospects to schedule pro-style workouts where each candidate will be evaluated based on Major League standards for their position.

Position players will be evaluated on their straight-line speed (60-yard dash), hitting ability, raw power, fielding, and arm strength.

Pitchers will be asked to throw bullpen sessions where each pitch in their arsenal is graded on velocity, command, and effectiveness.

As part of the evaluation process, position players and pitchers can expect to perform in live-action simulated game environments.

The MoCo RBI Scouting Department forwards comprehensive scouting reports on each prospect to Major League Baseball for review, then assists MLB with selecting top performers for premier showcases hosted by Major League Baseball, MLB teams, and MLB scouts.

Top performers are then recommended for premier MLB events that provide players an opportunity to showcase their talent directly for the MLB baseball development apparatus, pro scouts, and college coaches in attendance.
