Return to 2025 Baseball & Softball

Updated 9:00 AM EDT, May 1, 2025

POTOMAC, Md. — The Montgomery County (MoCo) Nike RBI program, a certified Major League Baseball (MLB) youth affiliate sponsored by the Washington Nationals MLB Club, announced today that its Senior (ages 16-18) and Junior (ages 13-15) division all-star teams will conduct an invitation-only tryout for high school players in the Mid-Atlantic region. This tryout is scheduled for Friday, June 6th, from 6:00 PM EDT until approximately 8:00 PM EDT. The tryout location will only be shared with those confirmed for this event. There is no cost to participate in the tryout.

MoCo Nike RBI will conduct on-field talent assessments of all players that include infield/outfield drills, bullpen sessions (pitchers only), and simulated games with live at-bats. Participants must bring their own equipment (bats, cleats, gloves, catching gear, hat, etc.) and arrive dressed in baseball attire. Baseballs shall be furnished by MoCo Nike RBI. Top candidates will receive consideration for MLB youth development programming, premier events hosted by the MLB scouting community, college showcases, as well as the:

— MLB Nike RBI Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament hosted at the USA Baseball National Training Complex training in Cary, NC

— opportunity to attend the 2025 MLB All-Star Game at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA, while representing the Washington Nationals at the MLB Commissioner's Cup tournament

— "MoCo" Washington Nationals Scout Team and Junior Scout Team.

All interested players MUST be pre-registered by a parent via the link provided above. No walk-ups are allowed to participate in this tryout — NO EXCEPTIONS will be made. Please be advised that registration with our MoCo Nike RBI Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Stars subprogram does NOT guarantee selection for any MLB or MoCo Nike RBI activity.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

MoCo Nike RBI Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Stars is open to residents of Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Interested players must be at least 13 years of age and no older than 18 years of age, provided that they have NOT reached/celebrated their 19th birthday before May 1, 2025. Prospective candidates are NOT allowed to be current members of any other MLB Nike RBI program or MLB Youth Academy.

OUR STORY

In Winter 2016, MoCo Nike RBI officially became the first-ever certified Major League Baseball (MLB) Nike RBI youth program affiliate within Montgomery County, Maryland. Founded by Four Seam Sports, Inc. (4-Seam), the MoCo Nike RBI program advances grassroots MLB youth development initiatives by encouraging academic achievement and the pursuit of continued education while ensuring that our scholar-athletes are better prepared to play collegiately and professionally.

Since 2017, the MoCo Nike RBI program has maintained a corporate partnership with the Washington Nationals MLB Club and the Washington Nationals Youth Academy. Throughout this time, MoCo Nike RBI has established a stellar track record of identifying underrepresented talent all over North America.

Today, scouts from all 30 MLB Clubs utilize the MoCo Nike RBI Pipeline as a trusted grassroots resource for identifying underrepresented youth baseball and softball talent. Thus far, the MoCo Nike RBI program has produced five (5) players selected in the MLB Draft and 105 college commits, with 56 receiving NCAA Division-I athletic scholarships, including the 2020 Jennie Finch Empowerment Award winner (Cheyenne DeGross — George Mason University). Furthermore, throughout the existence of our program, countless MoCo Nike RBI registrants have been chosen for premier exposure events including the Area Code Games, Area Code Underclass Games, Atlanta Braves 44 Classic, East Coast Pro (ECP), MLB Breakthrough Series, MLB Dream Series, MLB Hank Aaron Invitational, MLB Softball Elite Development Invitational, MLB States Play, as well as the USA Baseball National Team Identification Series (NTIS), USA Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline (PDP) League, and USA Softball High Performance Program (HPP).
